Children of Cain is a dystopian dramedy set in the future.  The world has heated up.  A terrible plague, that they call The Strain, has wiped out much of the population.  For the remaining population, it is illegal to go outside:  the penalty is death.  Ryder and Blake share a house and are getting by until Jane shows up, bleeding and unconscious, on their doorstep and she is not who she says she is.
